Abstract: The impact of adult education on civic engagement and participation is a critical area of study in understanding how education influences democratic processes. This research aimed to explore the relationship between adult education and civic engagement, specifically how adult education programs enhance individuals' participation in community and civic activities. The objectives were to measure the levels of civic participation among adult learners, identify the skills and knowledge gained through adult education that contribute to civic engagement, and evaluate the role of adult education in promoting social responsibility. A survey design was selected for this study as it allows for the systematic collection of quantitative data from a broad audience, providing insights into the patterns of civic engagement. The sample size consisted of 150 adult learners, chosen through purposive sampling to ensure a focus on those who have completed various adult education programs. The study was conducted in Enugu, a region with active adult education initiatives. The findings revealed that adult education significantly increased civic participation, with learners reporting higher involvement in community activities and local governance. The study recommended the expansion of adult education programs with a focus on civic education to further enhance community engagement and participation.
